Introducing Kayla Erps: The 2020 DTA Foundation / HuFriedy Group Scholarship Recipient
University of Iowa College of Dentistry and Dental Clinics’ Kayla Erps was awarded a 2020 scholarship of $5,000 as last year’s DTA Foundation / HuFriedy Group Scholarship Recipient.
In 2020, the DTA Foundation awarded 10 $5,000 level scholarships to winning applicants. Kayla Erps, a dental student at University of Iowa College of Dentistry and Dental Clinics was one of those 10 very deserving scholarship recipients. Kayla Erps’ interest in dentistry started when she was young and she enjoyed visiting the dentist as a child. In her application, she noted “Growing up, my community contributed positively to my life and I have a desire to return the favor. I will not only benefit patients with my dental services but will continue to volunteer whenever possible.” Read below her thanks to the HuFriedy Group for the scholarship.
With less financial concern due to this scholarship, I will be able to dive into my career goals and serving children and adults with disabilities immediately after completion of my degree. The recognition this scholarship has provided me serves as inspiration to continue my pursuance of public health dentistry and helping vulnerable populations.
I will continue to share volunteer opportunities with my colleagues, in hopes that I can inspire them to join me in making a difference!
