Introducing Beatrice Williams: The 2020 DTA Foundation / Treloar & Heisel Inc. Scholarship Recipient
UNC Adams School of Dentistry’s Beatrice Williams was awarded a 2020 scholarship of $5,000 as last year’s DTA Foundation / Treloar & Heisel Inc. Scholarship Recipient.
In 2020, the DTA Foundation awarded 10 $5,000 level scholarships to winning applicants. Beatrice Williams, a dental student at UNC Adams School of Dentistry was one of those 10 very deserving scholarship recipients. Beatrice Williams’s believes that “my commitment to community service during dental school is the foundation on which my career endeavors will expand upon.”
She also noted in her application how important music is to her. “I even bring music with me into the operatory. My pediatric patients love singing along with me and my older patients say it puts them at ease during dental procedures. I believe the relief music gives me extends to my patients, especially those with dental anxiety.” See below for part of her thank you letter to Treloar & Heisel, Inc. for their generous scholarship donation.
As I start my last year and look to specialize in Orthodontics, I am beyond grateful for your financial support. The current pandemic compounded with the fight for social justice has made this summer extremely arduous. It is because of your generosity that I am able to focus on my studies, and continue my commitment to community service and patient-centered care.
Thank you so much for your selfless support of the next generation of dental professionals, and being a bright light during these trying times.
