Introducing Stephanie Onyeka: The 2021 DTA Foundation / Benco Family Foundation Scholarship Recipient

Texas A&M College of Dentistry Stephanie Onyeka was awarded a 2021 scholarship of $10,000 as last year’s DTA Foundation / Benco Family Foundation Scholarship Recipient.

In 2021, the DTA Foundation awarded three more $10,000 Scholarships to top scholarship applicants. Stephanie Onyeka, a dental student at Texas A&M College of Dentistry, was the very deserving recipient of one of those scholarships. Being able to showcase my story, and be appreciated because of it has given me the boost of confidence I needed in the season of life I am in. Thanks to you and the Benco Family Foundation, I’ll be able to devote more time to my studies this year without carrying the burden of stress through expenses and bills. As I complete my education at Texas A&M College of Dentistry, being recognized as a DTAF Scholarship recipient has not only been motivating, but it has assured me that I am on the right track.

Dentistry presented as an amazing opportunity to combine my love of artistry, science, and the desire to give back to my community. From personal experiences, I’ve seen how individuals in high-risk communities with co-existing chronic environmental challenges are at a higher risk of developing health concerns. I have centered my purpose as a student dentist and artist in working within marginalized communities to develop initiatives that nurture inclusivity, representation and growth.
